“Old-Fashioned Radio” November 9-11, 2023

We held our annual Sharathon, “Old-Fasioned Radio” from 1pm on Thursday, November 9 through 10pm on Saturday, November 11.  We highlighted our heritage, including the never-changing Gospel, remembering our nation’s Godly roots, honoring Veterans that sacrificed for our freedom, and “the old country church”. On Thursday special guest Chuck Harding gave us glimpses of true American history and insight into current events in Washington. Saturday, we honored our veterans and had a special remembrance time honoring longtime KOLU operator Dave Anderson who recently made his entrance into Heaven. Of course, we featured the prayer and financial needs of this ministry and listeners to participate. We are so thankful for the $106,041 committed during the Sharathon for the operating costs of Christian Family Radio! With our theme of Old-Fashioned Radio, we also featured the “old country church”, with a very special promotion featuring 3 beautifully finished hand-crafted country churches.  All three are pictured below, with more details on our “Old Country Church Auction” page.  These model churches were auctioned for a total of $1575 that went to the operation of Christian Family Radio. Christian Family Radio now serves the Tri-Cities, Hermiston, Walla Walla and many other communities with KOLU at 39,000 watts along with translators in Yakima, the Lower Valley, Moses Lake and LaGrande, OR.   We are still looking for opportunities to expand, with some improvements to Moses Lake coming next year. Our operating budget this year is $126,000, which remains very low for a network that includes a 39,000 watt main station along with 4 translators, covering a large region in central and southeast Washington and northeast Oregon. Our goal for Sharathon was $100,000, with the balance coming from other promotions throughout the year. Don and Mike Cline hosted the Sharathon, keeping it engaging and enlightening, and yet helped us all to better understand the importance in raising funds for operation.  We are very grateful for their contribution, taking time out of their busy lives, for the sake of the Gospel.
