Sharathon 2025 is happening now, and running through Saturday, September 20 at 10pm. Our goal is to raise $100,000 toward our operating budget of $138,000 for the next 12 months.
Christian Family Radio started with a single 400 watt station, KOLU, on the campus of Riverview Baptist Church in Pasco, WA on August 31, 1971 with a relatively small coverage area that reached much of the Ti-Cities. Since that time, the Lord has blessed us with another 6 transmitters that combine to cover an area that contains over 900,000 people. KOLU 90.1 is now 39,000 watts and located on the hills south of Kennewick where its coverage reaches over 100 miles in some directions.
This year, we added two more “call sign” stations, KOLX 90.9 in Warden signed on in February and KGCF 89.5 in Aberdeen, WA signed on in August. These have been added to KOLU and 4 translators serving Yakima (88.9), Prosser/Sunnyside (92.3), Moses Lake (89.5) and LaGrande, Oregon (93.7).
Our growing outreach and inflation that we all experience has raised our operating budget to $138,000 per year, which is still very low considering the outreach of our network. Over half the budget is used to pay for operating costs and maintenance of our transmitter sites.
This ministry is listener supported. A small number of dedicated listeners have taken on the burden of paying the costs of this vital ministry that spreads the Gospel of Jesus Christ, provides family-friendly programming and spiritual music, and information that equips the Christian citizen to have a positive impact on this world.
We encourage you to commit to support Christian Family Radio by calling in during Sharathon at 866-800-5658. Even though you can certainly give without calling us, a call encourages our staff and helps us to be able to more carefully plan and budget the funds that the Lord provides through you, our listeners.
